Bio-Sketch of the Proprietor of Poustik Agro Food Products

The proprietor, Dr. V.D.Nagaraju is a retired Chief Scientist from CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, the premier R & D Institute in the country serving on Food Science and Technology from the past 70 Yrs. Dr. V.D.Nagaraju worked in this Institute for nearly 32 Years. His passion is always towards Research and Development of products and processes in the field of Food Science and Technology.

Dr. V.D. Nagaraju, born in 1960, in Mandya District, Karnataka, obtained B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) from Mysore University, M.Sc. (Ecology & Environment) from Sikkim Manipal University Gangtok and Ph.D (Mechanical Engineering) from Visveswaraya Technological University, Belgaum. He started his carrier as Teaching Faculty at SJCE Mysore and then entered Central Food Technological Research Institute , Mysore as scientist to carry out research in the field of Food Engineering and Food Science and Technology.


Dr. V.D. Nagaraju research areas are of Design and Development of Food Processing Machinery and Development of Processes. He has developed several machines and gadgets with special reference to traditional food processing machines, most of them are transferred to Industries and they are in use in the public domain. Few of them namely, Continuous Idli Making Machine, Continuous Urad Vada Making Machine, Spouted Bed Coffee/grain roaster, Pani poory making machine and Recently Continuous Ragi Mudde Making Machine which has been installed in many Institutions of government and public sectors. Apart from the development of machines and gadgets, he has been instrumental for several consultancy R&D projects which are successfully implemented in Government and Public Sectors with respect to spice processing and product developments . And he was awarded with many Grant-in-Aid projects from Department of Science and Technology and Minister of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, New Delhi.


Dr. V.D. Nagaraju has published many research papers in an international journals and presented research papers in conferences of national and international repute both oral and poster presentations. There are several National Patents and International Patents in his credits. All are in the tangible technologies with socio-economic important , transfer to industry and they are in use. He has guided many Engineering graduate students and M. Tech. students. In addition, he has worked in several capacities in the Institute as Chairman, Coordinator, and Liaison Officer. Dr. V.D. Nagaraju is a lifetime member of the Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) AFST(I).


Dr. V.D.Nagaraju, with his exemplary scientific knowledge gained at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore intent to serve the society by way of giving a suitably designed, hygienically processed food products. His motto is to cater the society with economically cheaper and health foods like Health Drink Mixes, which will nourishes the younger and elderly masses. Apart from these, different spices and spices powders like Chilly, Turmeric, Pepper, Cumin, coriander etc. With his vast knowledge of roasting and grinding expertise, especially spices and heat sensitive materials, he has setup a model pilot plant facility of state of the art at Mysore and started functioning and delivering the products.

He is very dynamic and responsible professional. His innovative approach and applicability is quick and sharp, which  made the company to take up several changes for the effective management. Initiatives in the areas of purchase and Financial management on raw materials and finished products were systematically manages with his skills is worth mentioning. Always, applies innovative thinking in the areas of new product development and optimization of unit operations in terms energy saving and cost effective processes.

Proven ability to successfully analyse company’s critical business requirements, identify deficiencies and plugging the shortfalls and applying innovative solutions for enhancing competitiveness in the market, and improving customer service offerings.

 

His grit, determination and business acumen has proven to be an asset to the company. Also he has imbibed the drive and passion from the Company which is required to grow a company from strength to strength to cater the society in terms better service and good food.
